Southern Hills Christian College/Carnarvon Christian School - Canberra Trip 2012

DAY ONE- CANBERRA TRIP 2012 

Well I said bye to my parents and I headed off to the airport with my Pop, Caleb and Pastor Pete. We got to the airport after getting through the traffic. We got on the plane and arrived at our first stop in Melbourne. We took off again and flew to Canberra then we caught a bus to our dorms and went to dinner. We then came back to our dorms and talked about our day with Mr Yap and Pastor Pete and then wrote this. Bye for now Finn Malin

The plane trip went faster than I expected. After the first flight we had to go again on another plane. This flight was a lot faster than I thought when we landed. We took a bus to the holiday park. I’m sharing a dorm with Finn (Malin), Matt and Khan. We have a TV in our room and our rooms are awesome but the outside doesn’t look as good. It’s about 8:20 pm and we’re going to bed soon as we have a long day ahead. I have met a lot of friends as well, today has been awesome. Levi

Well, the day started at 5:00am, Grrrr... drove to the airport and got there at 7am! The flight was boring but I sat next to Khan and the food was SOOO bad! We got to the airport in Melbourne, then we had a break for half an hour, taking pictures and stuff. The plane took off again and I sat next to Mr Pleysier and Adian R. We got into Canberra and we went to Eaglehawk Holiday Park and then got set Dorms. I’m with Finn, and also Khan and Levi from Carnarvon. We then had dinner (Chicken drumsticks) then we did this diary thing  that I’m doing now and for now that’s all folks. Matt R.

I got up at 5:30 am, then at 6:30 we left to go to the airport. It was completely dark! 7am we got there and then we got a big lecture till 8:30, then we got on the plane. It was really fun when the plane hit turbulence, all the girls freaked out. We got served what looked like incomplete pizza (aka what they call pasta), it was horrible. Then we got to Melbourne at 2:15 (Mel time) and then got to Canberra at 4:45. The terminal was so awesome. Then we caught a bus to Eaglehawk Holiday Park. I got a double bed and my own room in our dorm with Levi, Matt and Finn, now friends of mine. They all sleep in single beds in the same room. I can’t wait to tomorrow; it’s going to be so fun. Khan

To wrap up this message back to the home crew of our amazing Canberra team for 2012 I’ll fill in a few small details. The first point to make is that the kids have been a credit to you all. We have a tally running of how many compliments we receive from random strangers throughout the week away. Our goal is to beat the tally of 20 from last year. Just travelling from Perth the Canberra today our tally stands at 4! The air hostess was so please with our behaviour after she had another school group earlier in the day that they were glad to see the back of! So a big pat on the back to you at home, your kids do know how to behave even if you don’t see that much of it at home sometimes! The team has handled the air travel well. There were a few with unsettled tummy’s but they all pulled through and by the end of the day the debrief was full of fun and good stories. We have a big day ahead, up at 6:30 (4:30 your time!!!) after breakfast we head to a museum, the high court and the Australian Institute of Sport. After running through the program with the team, some boys were asking if there was some chill time in the week, the quick answer was “no”! Catch ya all tomorrow, bye for now from 5 happy staff.
